In the twelfth century, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine turned our region into an English province. The Bordeaux wine was then sent to England after only a few months of fermentation to face the developing demand. This resulted in a lack of structure and a very clear colour. The latter was even taken as a reference by our British friends to call this wine “claret”. The term is still used today across the Channel to talk about a fine Bordeaux wine.
Today, Bordeaux reinvents this “claret” making it pleasant, fresh and fruity. Halfway between rosé and red wine, our Bordeaux Clairet is soft and round on the palate with an aromatic intensity making it the perfect chilled wine for barbecues or aperitifs!
